It's the most wonderful time of the year... not Silly Hat Day, exams! I've only got four exams and two of them are one the same day, so I have Wednesday on free next week. :)
So why haven't I made any entries for weeks? I don't know.
As you can probably tell, the images are broken. Why are the images broken? Digitalrice finally cracked and got rid of direct linking of images. Hey, I wasn't abusing it... not really. Oh well, it was bound to happen. No worries, though. My beloved portland does allow direct linking.
But to upload this tired old layout again would be a crime. So, I have created a new one, with div layers this time because I think they're kinda cool. Enjoy.
I mean, enjoy when I upload it.

03:12 p.m.
Well, it's the last weekday of the holiday, and I still haven't touched my homework. I've tried really hard to, and sometimes stuff actually stopped me (e.g. Microsoft Works - worst oxymoron ever.) I shouldn't have been using the laptop to do my homework, though.
Now I'm watching Star Trek and I'm trying to do my homework yet still, I'm typing this. How curious. Anyway, I went out this morning and shovelled snow, which is good. I was supposed to get up early and help my dad shovel the snow that had fallen over the night, but my internal clock has failed me yet again. I woke up at 10 today. Yesterday was better, it was 9:45. But now it's 3:15 and it's still snowing.
There was a lot of snow that was really compacted and stuck to the driveway, but I got it... however, I had to look like an idiot to do it by using the tiny little miniature shovel, which is unfortunately the only metal shovel we have. It's just like the wire rake. Everyone knows the metal ones work better, but we go and buy the huge plastic one that doesn't do anything. But that was months ago.
So, I'm almost done "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" for the Gameboy Advance. I have learned that video games made from books/movies from series really suck. It was startling to realize how much of the game was trying not to get caught by a prefect/Filch/Snape. And the crazy isometric view thing didn't make the controls very nice.
Star Trek is funny. Picard died and God is showing him all the bad stuff he did or something. Or something. I haven't been paying much attention. Nemesis was cool... better than that crazy Insurrection, anyway. And they ended the series very effectively. If they crack and make another Next Generation movie, it's not going to be very good, without the best character. But it wasn't fair because my sister told me he was going to die before I saw the movie. That always happens with me. I knew Jack was going to die in Titanic, I knew what's-her-name was going to die in Moulin Rouge... I'm sure there are more, but they were so anticlimatic for me that I can't remember them.

Well, I find it astonishing how much I've managed not to accomplish over this holiday... the entire year, as a matter of fact. I haven't done any homework yet. I don't even go downstairs anymore, what with this wicked wireless connection.
So, New Year's resolutions... well, I've never made any before, and I'm not starting now.
Oh, you may have noticed (if you are one of the few that have visited this site more than once) that the font has changed from Tahoma size 8 to Verdana size 8. I used to shrug off Verdana as tacky and overused... but now Tahoma seems just gross. I think it's because it's the default Windows font. Anyway....
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention one other Christmas present. A bonsai tree. Uh huh. It was from explorus. I used to this explorus was cool, but now I know it's only good for bonsai trees and water fountains. And overpriced "household items."
Ohmygosh this is weird... this laptop thing doesn't show the apostrophes and quotation marks that you type until after you type the next character. But if you type the apostrophe or quotation mark again, it shows two of them. I can't tell whether that's annoying or just odd yet. It'll probably be annoying after a while.
They're watching Back to the Future now. And I'm right next to the TV, too. Maybe there are some bad things about having an Internet connection anywhere in the house. The worst part is, they've got another Back to the Future movie to watch after this... my brother bought the trilogy for my sister. And no one bought me Lilo and Stitch. I got a Gameboy Advance and two games, but no Lilo and Stitch.
I saw a tarot card kit at Coles. That seems like a strange place to sell tarot cards. Anyway, I want some now. But according to the book of divination, I musn't buy them for myself. And I know my parents wouldn't buy them for me... and there's no appropriate gift-giving season anytime soon when I can get it from a sibling or close friend. Oh, well, I guess I'll wait until December.

Yeah! I'm wireless! That is to say, I'm on a laptop right now and it isn't plugged into anything, even for power. I like to run the battery dry before I plug it in, even if the outlet is three feet away. And all thanks to the wonders of the radio wave transmitting router.
I got some cool loot for Christmas. Let's see.... I got a Gameboy Advance, Metroid Fusion, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for Gameboy Advance, a nice sweater from Reitmans, and a gift card for HBC or Zellers or something.
I like the gameboy.

Youppi! Je suis libre!!!
Well, at least for two weeks.
It appears that somone has downloaded KaZaa on this computer. I shall make it my mission to a) never ever ever use it and b) inform the people that it's KaZaa, not KaZaa. KaZaa just sounds stupid.
Anyway, instead of recounting the past week or so, I think I'll just take over the world...
Civilization: Call to Power really sucks, though.
Oh, yeah, I just passed 1000 hits. About 80% of those are myself, though, so I don't know quite what to make of it.

I'm in computers and I'm very bored. I got a plus for my organized notebook. I like that.
I really have to go to the washroom, but that's okay.
I think I'm falling behind. I haven't made a new layout in weeks.
I think I'll stop now.

10:11 a.m.
Lots of stuff happened and it was more interesting than writing stuff here, so I didn't write here... for a week or so. Actually, my sister was being a computer hog. On my birthday, too! Anyway, instead of recounting each day (because I forget what happened) I'll tell you all the stuff I got.
On last last Thursday, my dad and I went to Pacific Mall (a strange, strange place) to get my early birthday present: a beautiful tablet. And it was expensive, too. 5 Canadian. I like this. Here's a picture of it.

Then on Friday we bought a fudgy cake from Loblaws and it wasn't even the cake I wanted but the one I did want had apparently expired on Thursday. I couldn't get a picture of that because we ate it in two days and I didn't even acknowledge it as a birthday cake. My sister ate most of it, actually.
Then came Monday, the real birthday day. I hadn't done some french homework so I wanted to go to school early so I could do it (French is first period.) But as always, I ended up being late and my mom called a taxi. Anyway, all my friends beat me and pinched me. I can recount this day because I remember it - In French I got a 94 and some candy, in Careers I got a 77 and a headache, in English I got sung to and a 92, and in Science I got sung to again and a 95. I think you can tell which was the low point of my day. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hate Careers. I wouldn't wish it on a racist American. Actually no, wait, I would. I wonder if I can sue the TDSB for emotional and mental damage.
My dad wanted us to go out somewhere but I had Wind Ensemble. But we bought a good birthday cake at a different Loblaws. (We bought it on the way to band.) This cake you see below.

Okay, what's left... oh yeah, we put up the Christmas tree sometime last week. I don't remember when. I tell you, Careers is messing with my head. Here are two pretty pictures - one of the tree, and one of a pretty ballerina ornament that spins.

I went all fake electrician went I was putting the lights on the tree, but I was a really bad electrician. My dad fixed the lights with his cool pen thingy that checks the current. I then went interior decorator and put them on the tree in an eye-pleasing way.
My sister gave me a song - actually she played a song for me - for my birthday. It was about not having done anything of note for a year, wasting my life, etc. My brother gave me Mario Party 3 but I have yet to play Crazy Cutter on it. I think there should be an entire game devoted to Crazy Cutter.
I think that's it. I was bored, so I used my cool tablet to desaturate everything but the objects of focus (and some other random stuff) in all of those pictures. I need a new layout.

10:03 p.m.
My sister won't play Marblemen, the coolest game to date. Anyway, I just finished my science lab report, and it has all these cool contemporary dashes and dotted lines all over it. Well, on the title page, at least. Anyway, I still haven't written my short story, which I will have to somehow squeeze in tomorrow. I'm really quite screwed for the history test, which I have yet to study for. I should do that now, but I've always been a bit of a rebel.
This site looks bad in IE. Is that even possible, a site that looks worse in IE than Netscape? I always code for Netscape, 'cause I like fighting for the little guy. That and I've been using Netscape since, like, 1995. I like Netscape. But I can't use it on this computer (the formerly new computer, now old computer) because it's too slow for Netscape 6, which I foolishly installed. Hey, I like my links to be able to have dashed underlines when you roll over them.
I think she's playing Marblemen now. I love that game. I won a trophy at it. I like trophies.
Heh, I didn't have to make the English presentation. I've been saved twice now - the first time, there were enough other presenters that I didn't have to go, and on Friday there was a substitute teacher. He couldn't pronounce either "Beelzy" or "Lupescu". He lost some credibility for that.

05:16 p.m.
Hello... it's been more than a week since the last post, because I was too lazy and I didn't feel like thinking. I saw Harry Potter on Monday. We got to the theatre first (I mean first... it wasn't open yet and no one else was there) but even though it's first come, first serve, a bunch of other people lined up right in front of the door. But, the joke was on them. They all had to go to the box office and buy tickets, while we had bought tickets in advance. We got our favourite seats, once again. (Back row, center.) Alas, the movie wasn't that good. I really don't like how they talk... especially with Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, (showing off some Harry Potter franchise trivia there...) they speak so forcedly and stiltedly. But Ron was good. He was funny in that YTV interview... they asked him how things had changed with this movie, and he said, "Well, I'm taller.... and my voice is deeper..." He should be a comedian.
Some good TV on tonight... I got Reboot and CSI. I like it.
There's a toonie in front of me on the table. I wonder whose it is.
I need a new layout... but I don't want just a Christmas layout. I want Hannukah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, Diwali (even though that was a while ago), and... I can't think of any more.
I think I've forgotten how to type. This is really annoying.
I have to give a presentation in English tomorrow... I'm nervous already. =)
I was 45 minutes late for school today. But it wasn't my fault at all. See, I left home a few minutes late. But I made up for it, and I got to the bus stop at 8:13, when I usually get there. The bus usually comes around 8:15, and then there are a few buses in the minutes following it as well. However, no bus came until 8:32. I was looking at my watch a lot. Now, the bus was late, and the driver knew it. The bus was horrendously crowded, but, like always, everyone got off at Midland. Everyone always gets off at Midland. Can't they have another bus that just goes to Midland? Anyway, the driver thought it was fine to go slower than usual, even after everyone had gotten off at Midland. So I got to the town centre at 8:50. My school starts at 9. I was only five minutes late, really, but it took another 40 minutes in the office to sign in because their computer was down. Horrible day, in all. But at least it was an early dismissal.

all about moi:
Okay... I'll try to sum up everything in a few paragraphs. In the
past, I've been very bad about this. Anyway, I'm Kala and this is my
journal. I'm Canadian, but my parents are Sri Lankan. I only speak
English (and a little French) because I never learned Tamil, because I
couldn't sit still long enough to. And I hated those classes.
I like web designing and editing/creating graphics and stuff... I made
this, for example. I usually don't have much better to do, and when I do,
I don't do it because it's usually not fun. Anyway, I've been web
designing since '97 and doing graphics since '98. I'm relatively old on
the Web, even though I myself am only 14. (As of October 8, 2002... I'll
probably forget to update this for a while.) My pet peeves include
ignorant people, mean people, and ignorant, mean people. I really
don't like people who think Dreamweaver or Frontpage or Composer are
substitutes for knowing web design. They're not really mean, but they are
lazy and ignorant, and they taint the craft. That's right, it's a
craft.
Favourites...
shows: reboot, sailormoon
sailor soldier: saturn
colours: dark reds and purples
subjects: science, music
Oh yeah, my birthday's on December 2. I'm a Sagittarius. Britney
Spears and Monica Seles stole my birthday, not vice versa.
Remember that.

about this crazy stuff:
This is my online journal. I haven't had it for too long now, but it's
been a while. You can browse through older entries by clicking the
obviously named link above. This page was created solely by me, my
digital camera, Photoshop, and Fireworks because I couldn't get into
ImageReady which I would have used but I couldn't get into it so I had to
use the stupid trial Fireworks thing that puts spacers all over the
place. Dang vector imaging... raster forever!
this should work on all resolutions 800x600 and up, and I'll bet you
need at least 24-bit color to see everything perfectly (you'd probably be
fine with 16-bit, though.) Be careful of the blinkies... if you stare too
long at them I reckon you might have a seizure.
