all about moi:
Okay... I'll try to sum up everything in a few paragraphs. In the past, I've been very bad about this. Anyway, I'm Kala and this is my journal. I'm Canadian, but my parents are Sri Lankan. I only speak English (and a little French) because I never learned Tamil, because I couldn't sit still long enough to. And I hated those classes.
I like web designing and editing/creating graphics and stuff... I made this, for example. I usually don't have much better to do, and when I do, I don't do it because it's usually not fun. Anyway, I've been web designing since '97 and doing graphics since '98. I'm relatively old on the Web, even though I myself am only 14. (As of October 8, 2002... I'll probably forget to update this for a while.) My pet peeves include ignorant people, mean people, and ignorant, mean people. I really don't like people who think Dreamweaver or Frontpage or Composer are substitutes for knowing web design. They're not really mean, but they are lazy and ignorant, and they somehow get praise for knowing how to drag and drop. Which I don't like.
Favourites...
shows: reboot, sailormoon
sailor soldier: saturn
colours: dark reds and purples
subjects: science, music
Oh yeah, my birthday's on December 2. I'm a Sagittarius. Britney Spears and Monica Seles stole my birthday, not vice versa. Remember that.

about this crazy stuff:
This is my online journal. I haven't had it for too long now, but it's
been a while. You can browse through older entries by clicking the
obviously named link above. This page was created solely by me, my
digital camera, Photoshop, and Fireworks because I couldn't get into
ImageReady which I would have used but I couldn't get into it so I had to
use the stupid trial Fireworks thing that puts spacers all over the
place. Dang vector imaging... raster forever!
this should work on all resolutions 800x600 and up, and I'll bet you
need at least 24-bit color to see everything perfectly (you'd probably be
fine with 16-bit, though.) Be careful of the blinkies... if you stare too
long at them I reckon you might have a seizure.

I love Super Smash Bros. Kirby rocks because he flies. Jigglypuff sucks because he/she/it is a poser Kirby. And Ness-Kirby and Falcon-Kirby are so cool!

I really shouldn't be here... I should be doing a collage for English that's due tomorrow and apparently the people in the other class spent much time on. But, of course, all that can wait.
Heh, you know what's cool? This is the 100th site to join the Made With Notepad Campaign. (see the button somewhere in the other column-y thing). I like Notepad.
You know what else is cool? On Friday, I burned two potatoes and blew up a plate in the microwave. It was really cool, especially when the potatoes were on fire and the plate exploded. I learned that heat makes plates expand, and when you force then to contract very quickly, they blow up and shards of plate go flying. Really cool. Our smoke detector didn't go off, though, which is kind of disturbing.
I think collages are stupid. Stupid collages.
I have a green-dominant personality. That means I don't like careers.

What Was Your PastLife?
Hee, I'm smart.

I don't quite get it. I am smarter, fitter, and bolder than my potbellied brother ever could hope to be, yet he gets all the fame, fortune, and glory, not to mention Peach's heart. If only I was the first player in Super Mario Bros... things could have been different. Maybe I can make a comeback, now that I finally have my own game.. but probably not. After all, I'm just Luigi.
What Super Mario Bros character are you?
Heh heh heh... one day I will rise and overthrow that good-for-nothing fat plumber! Then I'll have respect...

Bah... the last three or so days have been chaotic. On Halloween, My aunt and uncle flew in from Vancouver. They took me and my sister out to buy shoes for me, and then we went to pick up my sari blouse, (which was fine, except the arms were way too tight but I didn't tell her.) and then we went home and had to try on everything and I went to bed late.
Then on Friday, I got to miss school... but it wasn't as nice as I thought it would be, because I was doing stuff from 7 in the morning to about 5 in the evening. My aunt (another aunt) came and put the sari on me the right way, with the pleats and everything, but she put it on backwards so it went over the right shoulder instead of the left shoulder. My uncle said people thought we were Gujurat because of that. She fixed it when we were in the bridal room place at the hall.
Somehow, the bride remained relatively happy for the whole day. I don't know how she did it. Anyway, I got to stand next to the best man holding some flowers for pretty much the whole ceremony. (Except the parts when the bride wasn't there.) It was cool when the groom put the tholi thing on the bride (symbolically tying the nuptial knot) because there were little containers full of bubble-making soapy water stuff on each table and everyone blew bubbles. And everyone near the altar threw flowers. And the music got really loud to drown out evil.
But the best part of the day was the limo. I'd never been in a limousine before... until yesterday. It was cool, about 12 people can fit in them. And there was a little bar and a TV and it was really cool.
But in a close second as best part of the day was when I first stepped out of my house to leave. I got in the car and looked down, and then when I looked up it was snowing. Like, really snowing. It got almost storm-like. I even took a picture (I'm never without my camera, you should know that) of Kennedy and Sheppard. (it's from inside a tinted window, so shut up.)
Oh yeah, and here's a picture of ugly me in a purple sari. With purple nail polish and purple bangles. I don't think purple suits me. The sari is backwards in this picture... I would have flipped it horizontally, but meh.
At the time of this writing, my server is down. Lucky me. I should use portland more... there's more space and they don't reboot their servers so often. But they're so slow....

Well? You like? See, there is a haunted house. But it might not actually be haunted. People live in it. Anyway, I actually want feedback on this layout, so e-mail me please. Wow, for once I actually care what others think...
Hmm... methinks to get proper exposure, I'll have to leave this layout up for a few weeks. I didn't spend half an hour yesterday and 10 minutes today so 5 people could see my pretty layout. I think other people - normal people - spend longer on their layouts. Well, I'm gifted. ^.^
I have homework. Ugh. I wanted to gaze in admiration at my website.

03:25 p.m.
Yay! It's the weekend and I'm home alone! I haven't been home alone for... a while. And I don't have any homework that I can can think of either! (I probably have some huge project... oh well.)
Remember that evening ceremony I was supposed to go to on Friday? Yeah... I didn't go to it. I don't even know why. I think I got the time mixed up or something, but I got there but the band had already started playing. I freaked and left with my dad.
I'm bored... I'm watching Nsync on Egos and Icons. The songs make me nostalgic.
My hair is wet... my head is heavy and I have a slight headache. Yesterday night, I changed all the clocks I could find... that made me feel satisfied. But then, this morning my dad said the VCR (which is new) changes itself, so it was an hour early in the morning. Oh well. My new VSR has commercial advance. This is the coolest feature... but it's kind of scary. I was watching Reboot, which had been taped, and then the commercials started and I reached for the remote, but it fast forwarded itself! And it stopped perfectly... it was eerie.
I still haven't gotten the teacher's signature from when I "skipped" TAP. I wonder if they care. I hope TAP is over. There aren't any more standardized tests, thankfully. I don't think I could sit through another one. Notice I said "sit through" and not "write". That's because I spend more time just sitting (and sometimes sleeping) than writing for these things, most of the time.
How come the symbol for antimony is Sb? I know the Latin names for gold and silver and tin and lead (haha, plumbum...) and mercury and stuff... but not antimony. And antimony is such a funny word. It's like alimony.
We're finally finished the stupid ecology unit in Science. Now is chemistry... a real science subject, thank you.
How come so many people like Justin? And they're all screaming so loudly... you'd think their blood would become alkaline. Like that baby in Andromeda Strain. That was cool.

06:04 p.m.
I don't like standardized testing... it's always boring and I always finish at least 20 minutes before the time's up. Yesterday I could only sit there waiting for the time to end so I could get my complimentary oatmeal cookies, but today the teacher was nice and he let me dig through a big box of magazines. It looked like there were only "Writers" magazines (Magazines for writers. What'd you think?), and some obcure technology magazine, but I found a seventeen at the bottom of the box. I took it and laughed at all the models in my head. One of the reader comments was really rich... they asked why the magazine had shown "jeans for all sizes" but only showed sizes up to 6, and the magazine's reply was that there were models over size 6, but they looked like they were thin because of their good choice of jeans... yeah...
Tomorrow is probably going to be one of the weirdest days at school... ever. I have to go to school at 8:20, to set up because I'm in the band for the commencement ceremony. Then, we do the ceremony and miss first period and a little more. We get out of school at 12:15 because of the ceremony again, and then I have to come back at 7:00 for the evening ceremony. Scary.
My sister's going to be "partly cloudy with a chance of rain" for Halloween. She's going to wear her costume tomorrow for dress down day, so I'm going to steal her uniform for my concert dress.
Yay, I have no homework due tomorrow.

^.^ as of this post, all the images on this page are broken... the digitalrice server is down. And not just the member servers, either... even digitalrice.com isn't working.
Anyway, I haven't posted for a while. I'll summarize the last few days.
The water was alkaline, I tell you. Alkaline! The test was boring and stupid, but we have to do more of it tommorrow. My math teacher is Batman. DBZ is funny.
If any of that made sense to you, you must know me personally.
Ooh, Reboot's on.
I saw three (count 'em, three!) funny things on the way home from school today. 1) There was a lady on the bus with a jacket that said "Reedak" on the back and it had the Reebok logo flipped horizontally. 2) There was a grown man riding a girls' youth-sized (I don't know the actual wheel size) bike. It was purple. And 3) ... dang it, I forget. And I told myself to remember, too! Oh well.
I hope this is the Reboot when they find Bob but at first they think he's evil, but then at the end he fixes Andraia and Frisket growls at him but Frisket always growls at him and then Matrix didn't know who it was and then he took off his mask-y thing and said, "You can't talk in these things." and Matrix was going to tackle him, I think, because that's what Enzo always did but then Bob stopped him and said, "I think you're a little big for that." and it was hi-larious. Aw, it isn't... ooh, but it's the other cool one when Andraia reboots as Hexadecimal, and Matrix reboots as Megabyte, and Frisket's SCSI. Ah, this one's good.

11:51 a.m.
I just archived. The page was getting a little long. Anyway, I'm feeling rather happy now. By some weird miracle, my .htaccess scripts finally work. Now, you can go to the passward protected area of my website and not be able to go in and be redirected to the 401 page that I made myself. I also made a 404 page and a 500 page. I have too much time on my hands.
My dad said we had to go by fabric to line the sari blouse that one of my aunts is going to make for me. He said to do my homework before we leave... uh huh.
I'm forgetting stuff now... I forgot to tell my math teacher that I'm not going to be there on the day of the math test, I forgot my IEP in my backpack somewhere, I forgot to sell any cookie dough for the Music Dept. (I know, great website... I didn't make it, in case you were wondering.) and I keep forgetting to get my TAP teacher to sign my skip sheet. I can't get it next week at TAP because there is no TAP next week. Stupid school schedule... never works for me.
I didn't skip. I was marked absent even though I was there. Stupid teacher.
I'm bored now. I have no idea what to put in my password-protected area. I also have no idea what to do with my now-stagnant Reboot guild.
