Sweet... the guy who plays Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter movies (pic) is named Alfred Enoch and has the same birthday as me, only he's a year younger. And he looks like Denzel Washington.
Anyway, I'm off to stay up past midnight writing my English essay.

Since I was almost finished an entry when it spontaneously closed on me, this one might be a little bit more impatiently written than normal.
I changed the title. "Pencil and paper ALERT!" captures the spirit of the site so much better than "Titles are overdone.", mostly because the latter doesn't capture any spirit. And "pencil and paper ALERT!" is from old-school Art Attack, which was amazingly cool and I used to fight with my little brother for the remote over it. He wanted to watch Power Rangers, though, which I now admit is slightly cooler than Art Attack. I was weird back then.
I've made a decision not to even think about Anthro until two days before the due date, because I know if I attempt it any sooner than that I'll fall into a trance-like stupor and end up being less productive than I would have been if I hadn't tried at all. When there's something I normally have no interest in doing, stress and fear are what really motivate me to do it. I've learnt that about myself.
Now, I have to stop thinking about schoolwork because I don't think this is very healthy. So... Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban!
I think there's going to be a lot of Harry and Hermione or Ron and Hermione grabbing each other when bad things happen in this movie. I know, they're supposed to be on the verge of hormonal insanity, but still... it's weird. Actually, it's only weird between Harry and Hermione, because everyone knows Ron and Hermione are the money couple. I don't know why there are so many Harry/Hermione fans. It's so obvious.
Forgoing the "Malfoy looks weird now" thing, what's up with the magical origami? And furthur, why does Malfoy know how to do origami? I never would have pegged him as an origami artist.
Sucks to you, Malfoy! Hmm... is he wearing robes when everyone else is wearing normal stuff? Sucks to him even more, then.
Aw, he's protecting them! That's adorable. Snape's just a big softie. :D

Have you ever found it so hard to concentrate on something that it almost seems painful? That's me when it comes to any kind of work. I think I've always been lazy. In grade 3, when we started getting homework on a regular basis, I would put math assignments off until 5 minutes before bedtime.
My parents are both hard workers. They do things as they come, they never procrastinate. They do taxes months in advance. And I know they're that way by nature, because they keep telling me stories about how they were the top students in their classes (I bet they never had to endure Anthropology.) That rules out both nature andnurture. I grew up idolizing the Amy from Sailor Moon, Billy from the Power Rangers ... all the smart kids. I surround myself with them at school. So what the heck happened to make me such a slacker?
I rarely do the extra-credit stuff. I barely participate in extra-curricular things. I'll probably just scrape by with 40 hours of community service. My favourite place is my house. My favourite thing is not working. I tell my parents this, and they usually roll their eyes and continue doing their work.
There are sometimes exceptions. I like computer programming assignments because I can speed through them. I also don't like them because computers are boring after a while. The only thing I've finished this weekend is my programming work. I also like working when it's on my own terms. I can make websites, maintain a lawn and a garden, cook, and a lot of other things that won't earn me a living that's up to my own standards.
To sum up, I can't write or think coherently anymore, and this is too much work for nothing, so see you.

I haven't done any more work. Okay, I did change the colours on my sorting procedure so they fit with the scheme better. But... not much else. Not anything else. I even searched "how to stop procrastinating" on Google, but that didn't get me anywhere.
I got rid of the tagboard. I think it was making pop-ups on the site - I didn't know because of my pop-up killer. Anyway, I don't see any pop-ups now. So you all have to use the comments thing now. In some ways, comments are worse than the tagboard... you have to live with each post saying "Comments(0)". Then again, you can make posts with more than 200 words.
I'm not going to allow myself to write another entry until I start something.

I need to figure out what I actually have to do this weekend. So let's see...
- Chemistry: review for practical and exam
- Anthro: presentation
- French: review for written/aural exams, read Maigret et le Clochard (actually, the reading's just for fun. That book rocks!)
- Computers:
write graphical sorting program and do that comparison of sorts thing
- Religion: start researching for debate. Argument: religion does not hinder development.
- English: Start essay on dystopian novels, write etymology of dystopian language and translate the front page of a newspaper into it (ugh), think about poem about/analysis of dystopian art piece
- Physics: review for electricity test
- Math: nothing! oh, review for conics test. But that's next next week.
I have more work than I initially thought I did. I shouldn't have done that.
Anyway, you know how I said that Days sucks now? I was wrong, becaus Days rocks now! They're all alive, and have been relocated to a Caribbean island that's set up just like Salem! It's like that episode of ST:TNG when Dr. Crusher thinks she's going crazy because everyone's disappearing but they're actually going to the real Enterprise. Well, not exactly. Kind of like it.
Friday, May 21, 2004 - 01:39 a.m. | :
I have comments! I think. Oh, good, I do. It might not work for the older entries.
Thursday, May 20, 2004 - 11:50 p.m. | :
I'm not tired right now, because I fell asleep at 5:30 and woke up a few hours ago. Then I feverishly scoured the Internet for dystopian art, but I didn't find any because I have a low tolerance for stuff I don't care about.
Long weekend equals so much work that we're all going to die. I'd like to meet the guy (or girl) who came up with mandatory year-end summatives worth 30% of the final mark for every high school course in Ontario. I'd like to kick him (or her) in the shin. I probably wouldn't, though.
All of this is exacerbated by DOOL majorly sucking right now. It's mostly Sami's fault, and that frustrates me because she's my favourite character. All she does is cry and accuse people she doesn't like of killing her mother. And poor Lucas is demoted to "Sami's crutch", which is also very sucky because Lucas is a cool character. Now all he does is follow Sami around and pat her arm sympathetically. And occasionally give her a hug. Ugh.
So, in conclusion, I'm somewhere around miserable right now. And I need dystopian art.

I'm still bored. I spent the day helping my dad and brother clean the car and mow the lawn. Then I chastised my sister for not wearing her helmet when she went bike-riding. Then she showed me this great spoof of the Apple Computers Switch campaign. She always finds the cool stuff before me.
Still no title.

New layout. You know, in case you hadn't noticed. I'm not liking this one very much. S'alright, though. I'm always astonished by how differently IE and Netscape render (I've been a Netscape girl since before IE was released.) I really dislike how IE puts in a scrollbar regardless of whether it's needed or not, and renders "dotted" lines as dashed lines (those form elements on the Tag-Board look 100% better on Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, etc.), and a whole bunch of other stuff. Oh well.
So I haven't done any homework this weekend. I keep racking my mind, trying to think of something big that should be due next week, but I can't think of anything except some in-class stuff. It's unnerving.
If you can think of a good title for this site, please tell me. I'm all inspired-out.
Sunday, May 9, 2004 - 05:30 p.m. | :
I can't concentrate. I really really do have to finish my anthropology essay, but it's not happening. I accept that. It will get done, eventually. I guess. This morning, I was attempting to outline the essay again (I also tried last night) and, again, ended up writing "I can't concentrate", "I hate school", and my signature over and over again. I also practised my cursive, which I hadn't done in a while. It's nice. I like it. I drew capital letter "S"s in cursive and put eyes and beaks and wings and legs on them. They looked like ducks.
I also planned a new layout. Dimensions and everything. I have new photography all lined up, too. All I need is 15 minutes to slap it together and slice it up on my Adobe® Photoshop® and ImageReady® software and another twenty or so to code it. Boredom drives me to do so much... I should be bored all the time. Oh, wait.

The friday five is dead. I regret never doing it, and on the occasion that I did do it, it was on Sunday. Once, even Monday, I think. RIP.
You know what's a lot of fun? Pulling out dandelions. I bet you weren't expecting that. But I made my dad buy a Hound Dog Weed Hound, and it's just a lot of fun. You can really take your anger out on the things, since each step requires some kind of violent action. You position the thing over the dandelion, then shove it into the ground, twist it if it's big or you're feeling vicious, and yank it out. To eject the weed, you slam the knob.
It's also great for competing, possibly with a younger brother. You can compete in the length of the taproot that you pull out (I got one that was at least 20cm long), or in the distance you pop the things off. The best part is, they don't grow back in 24 hours like they do if you pull them out by hand. Die, dandelions, die!
So no pesticides for this lawn. Sorry if that sounded too much like an advertisement for you.

I must admit, I was looking forward to that feeling of solidarity that results from a concert on a playoffs night. The one in grade nine was great - the Leafs scoring got more applause than any of the performances. But it doesn't matter. Next year, Leafs. I'm pulling for you, even if I cheer for the other team to try to get a rise out of my brother. It never works, anyway.
Everyone's talking about Harry Potter again... I watched the trailer, but it stopped and the browser crashed halfway through. It looks good, though. Tom Felton looks kind of strange.
So when I was walking to the bus stop today, I occupied myself by trying to recall an entire episode of Barney and Friends. I chose the one when there was a thunderstorm, and the lights went out and they were scared. Min mentions that when the rain stops, her sister will come to pick her up and bring her new puppy. Shawn gets strangely apprehensive at this.
Later Kathy says she's scared of thunder, and Min sings two songs - a Tagalog song about a doll, and then an English equivalent. I think they're still scared, though, so Barney makes them make masks out of paper plates and they sing some more songs. Min keeps mentioning her new puppy, and Shawn gets more and more nervous.
I believe this is the episode with Baby Bop stealing the cookies from the cookie jar, but maybe not. Anyway, they sing that song about stealing cookies from the cookie jar, and eventually the rain stops and they go outside. This is the only thing I actually do remember from the episode: Barney exclaims, "Smell that rain-washed air!" as he walks through the door.
So it turns out Min wasn't lying or anything, and her sister turns up with her new puppy. Shawn immediately runs back into the school, followed by Barney. Shawn reveals that he's afraid of dogs because one bit him once. It was a shocking moment. Barney convinces Shawn that not all dogs are rabid - and certainly not cute puppies! So Shawn goes outside and pets the puppy, and all is well. They sing the "I love you" song.
That was a lot of fun. Like this 1986 Toys 'R Us catalogue.
